DS9 Season 1 Reviews

DS9 Ranker – Ratings are based on a 5-point scale and include spoilers

Season 1

Emissary Part 1 and Part 2 – 3.5

Past Prologue – 3.5

A man alone – 3.0

Bable – 4.5

Captive pursuit – 4.0

Q-less – 3.0

Dax – 4.0

The passenger – 2.0

Move along home – 3.0

The Nagus 2.0 (Very goofy but there was some really sweet scenes with Jake, Ben and Nog but this episode was a mess and that laugh from the Nagus was uhh…bad)

Vortex – 3.5

Battle lines – 2.5 (acting was hammy but concept was interesting at least)

The Storyteller – 1.5 (Very weird episode. The negotiation plot was pretty bland, cringy, and underdeveloped while the storyteller plot was just plain bizarre. Why didn’t O’Brien call DS9 for help? If the Dal’Rok was man made, why couldn’t they just tell the villagers it was all made up? What is Dal’Rok? Anyway, the O’Brien and Bashir interactions were entertaining, as well as O’Brien’s attempts at being the Sirah, but it wasn’t enough to save this strange episode. At least Odo was entertaining as well. As a last note, O’Brien trying to rally the village was genuinely one of the funniest Star Trek moments ever for me personally .)

Progress – 4.5 (Who told me this was going to be a banger? Loses half a star because the ending was super abrupt. I understand that’s the theme of the episode, but this deserves a follow-up of some kind. Also the B-plot was gold. Sisko’s speech to Kira and the ‘other side’ comment…best part of this show thus far. Best episode thus far.)

If Wishes Were Horses- 2.0 (Imaginary Dax scenes were really cringy, I would’ve resigned right there as Bashir. The episode had a fun ending, if a little expected. Not bad, but decently forgettable.).

The Forsaken- 4.5 (Laxwana scenes with Odo were solid and I enjoyed O’Brien figuring out the invasive program. The Bashir scenes were funny, especially when he complained to Sisko about the ambassadors.

Dramatis Personae- 1.0 (This episode was very bad, but in a fun-bad sort of way. It was an interesting watch, but there’s no doubt it’s the worst episode of the season. No real character development, just people acting weird and Odo saving everybody. This was like the many episodes where the TNG crew got bailed out because Data is an android. Just kind of predictable, but the hammy acting was still fun to watch nonetheless.)

Duet – 5.0 (Excellent episode. The complex breakdown of justice, murder and the victims of war is truly remarkable. The tragic end to this episode only reinforces this, with the Bajoran man becoming a fanatic like Marritza claimed to be…)

In The Hands Of The Prophets- 4.5 (Slo-mo was very goofy, but the overall episode was very solid. Sisko was especially awesome in this one.)
